About NeuroCash

Last updated: July 2026

NeuroCash publishes in-depth, plain-English financial guides for two groups of people the mainstream personal finance world tends to overlook: the self-employed and newcomers to the United States.

Both face the same underlying problem. Almost all standard financial advice assumes a steady paycheck, an employer who provides health insurance and a retirement plan, and a long domestic credit history. Freelancers have none of that automatically. Newcomers start with none of it at all. The result is that the questions that matter most to these readers — how self-employment tax actually works, how to buy your own health coverage, how to build a credit file from zero, how to budget when income arrives in unpredictable bursts — are either answered badly or not answered at all.

What we publish

Every guide on this site is written to answer a real question completely rather than superficially. Our articles typically run well over two thousand words because these topics genuinely require that depth: explaining quarterly estimated taxes properly means covering who owes them, the safe-harbor rule, how to calculate and pay, and what happens if you miss one. A three-hundred-word summary would leave readers exactly where they started.

Our content is organized into five areas:

  • Insurance — health coverage, HSAs, dental and vision, disability, and liability protection for people without employer benefits.
  • Taxes — self-employment tax, quarterly payments, deductions, business structure, and irregular income.
  • Banking & Cash Flow — business accounts, credit cards, invoicing, getting paid faster, and budgeting on variable income.
  • Retirement — Solo 401(k)s, SEP IRAs, how much to save, and saving when your income fluctuates.
  • Newcomers — opening a bank account, building credit, ITINs, health coverage, taxes, housing, and the first-year checklist.

Our editorial approach

We aim for accuracy, clarity and usefulness, in that order. Our guides are written and reviewed by the NeuroCash editorial team, and we work from official sources — the IRS, the Health Insurance Marketplace, federal and state agencies — rather than repeating what other websites say.

We deliberately avoid two things common in this space. First, we don't publish specific product recommendations dressed up as objective advice, because rates, terms and availability change constantly and vary by individual circumstances. Instead we explain how to evaluate options so you can compare them yourself with current information. Second, we don't oversimplify to the point of being misleading. Where a topic is genuinely complicated, or where the right answer depends on your situation, we say so and point you toward professional help.

We review and update our guides periodically, because tax figures, contribution limits, enrollment windows and program rules change from year to year. Where a specific number is likely to change, we tell you to verify the current figure rather than presenting a stale one as fact.

What we are not

NeuroCash is an educational publisher. We are not accountants, attorneys, tax preparers, insurance brokers, or financial advisors, and nothing on this site is personalized advice. We don't know your income, your immigration status, your state, your family situation, or your goals — all of which change the right answer to almost every question we cover. For decisions that matter, consult a qualified professional who can look at your actual circumstances. See our disclaimer for the full statement.

How the site is funded

NeuroCash is free to read and is supported by advertising, including Google AdSense. Advertisements are clearly marked and are served by third parties; advertisers do not influence what we write or how we cover a topic. We may also participate in affiliate arrangements in the future, in which case we would disclose them clearly. Our privacy policy explains how advertising cookies work and how you can control them.

Get in touch

We welcome corrections, questions and suggestions for topics we should cover. If you spot something inaccurate or out of date, please tell us — we'd rather fix it than leave it. You can reach us through our contact page.
